Dr. Richard Velayo’s scholarly work is related to the Internationalizing of the Teaching of
Psychology with a focus on strategies that help infuse international content and promote a global perspective within the discipline of psychology at the higher education level. Specifically, the three related areas of research work involve the following:
(1) identifying effective pedagogical strategies to internationalize psychology courses,
(2) developing of an assessment tool for an internationalized psychology course, and
(3) applying Internet-based technologies (IBTs) as teaching and research tools to help infuse international content.
The research projects generally involve the design and development of online surveys, identification of (and
access to) resources (e.g., instructors, courses, multimedia materials), and curriculum-based applications of IBTs. Students who have been involved in his research are particularly interested in
the use of social media technologies, international students, and/or those who have lived abroad or have traveled extensively in other countries are especially sought.
